World War II Veteran Aircraft

Commemorating the Greatest Generation

C-47 Placid Lassie

Placid Lassie is the Tunison Foundation's 1943 Douglas C-47 Skytrain. Unlike many warbirds operating today, she is a real war hero. She is not an replica, or a deep restoration based upon parts from multiple separate airplanes. These rivets crossed the English Channel on June 6th, 1944 and continued across Europe in the service of our nation.

PBY Catalina

Our current major restoration project is our 1942 Consolidated PBY-5A Catalina, also a real war veteran. While she has not been airworthy in many years, it is our hope to restore the Cat to her former glory and operate her alongside Placid Lassie as a flying memorial to both wartime and postwar history and aviation.

Other Aircraft

Through our friends and partners, the Tunison Foundation also has access to other World War II veteran aircraft, including the Beechcraft C-45, North American T-6/SNJ, Boeing Stearman, and other types, for your airshow or event. Please inquire with Garrett Fleishman if interested
